AGDQ Begins January 7th

by Zeb Jackson

AGDQ( Awesome Games Done Quick) is an annual speed running charity event that begins it’s week-long marathon starting this weekend on January 7th and will be supporting the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Last year almost 1400 people convened at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport Hotel in Herndon,VA to play games. In total the stream generated over 4 million unique viewers and 250,000 concurrent viewers. To date AGDQ has generated over 6.6 million dollars for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Every year this event seems to get bigger and bigger, so it will be interesting to see how many people tune in to watch their favorite games get destroyed in record times. Seeing someone beat a world record on a game you like is as uncommon as you would think either. There have been several instances of a world record being achieved at a GDQ event.

Here we see Toufool WR beat the world record for Diddy Kong Racing

If you want to catch all the action you can follow follow their twitch here

If you are more particular and want to watch a specific speed run they also have a live schedule which can be found here

What games are you looking forward to watching at AGDQ? I’m personally a Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time fan.
