ANIMAL CROSSING: POCKET CAMP Is Released Earlier Than Expected

The latest Animal Crossing entry into the franchise, and the first to hit mobile phones, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp was released a day earlier than expected.

The game pretty much revolves around the classic Animal Crossing formula, with the cute animals and all. The only difference is that you take the role of a campsite manager instead of the mayor of a town. You also earn bells (the in-game currency) by helping out new animals as you explore different recreational spots.

You can check out the game here, but the official synopsis of the game from Nintendo reads:

"You're in charge, so you can decorate your own campsite however you like! Make it fun, make it cute, make it sporty—it’s up to you to craft the kind of furniture and amenities that will make your camp a must-see for animals visiting the area.”

Although I would have preferred a Switch version, Animal Crossing in mobile doesn't seem like a bad idea at all. I can already imagine how easy it is to pull your smartphone out of your pocket and play for short sessions while on commute, or while waiting in line for something. It will certainly be addicting, remember when it was reported that Bin Laden played Animal Crossing while in hiding? Yeah that's how addicting Animal Crossing is.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited to play Animal Crossing on your smartphone? Or are you waiting for a proper game to be released on the Switch? Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is available to download for free for iOS and Android.
