Bethesda Will Only Do An Elder Scrolls Movie If Peter Jackson Is Involved

Pete Hines is on a roll today as some more news regarding the potential of an Elder Scrolls movie is making headlines. Gamespot writes that Hines says Bethesda has been approached a lot about making a movie based in the Elder Scrolls universe, but has no interest in doing so unless they can get the one and only Peter Jackson on board to do it...

"I think if Peter Jackson turned up at [Bethesda game director Todd Howard]'s office and said, 'I want to do Elder Scrolls,' well that would be a pretty serious conversation you would have to listen to. But I think Peter is probably pretty busy (laughs). So I don't see us anytime soon looking at movies."

Hines also said the deal would have to be contingent on Bethesda having "complete control" of the film adaptation...and that usually doesn't happen.

"I don't know anybody who actually has total control over the film adaptation of their video game...If you did, why would you not just make it yourself? Of course the film studio and the scriptwriter and the director are going to have a ton of say. They will have their own vision. So we get asked all the time, but we see it as a distraction. We're a video games company; let's do what we know."

In my opinion, I think an Elder Scrolls film would be a colossal failure. The reason Bethesda's titles like that work is because you are essentially telling the story! Sure everyone begins and ends in the same place, but it's the little things you do in Skyrim and Fallout that MAKE the experience. Maybe I'm wrong...what's your opinion?
