Check Out The New Details On Square Enix's Upcoming AVENGERS Game

Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix announced today a multi-year, multi-game partnership, leading with the reveal of The Avengers project. This newly established partnership pairs the creative minds at Marvel and Square Enix for one of the most powerful alliances in interactive entertainment.

Last year, Square Enix, together with Crystal Dynamics has announced that they are developing a game based on Marvel’s popular franchise, The Avengers. During the initial announcement, both companies did not reveal any details on the upcoming game besides a trailer, which is posted above. Currently, the game is being called The Avengers Project, and in a post from Marvel’s website, several details came to light as the development of the game moves forward.

First, it has been announced that the developers behind the game has hired 15 top industry talents to the project since January this year. Among the new hires were Shaun Escayg, who left Naughty Dog after being with the company for several years as a creative director, and Stephen Barry, who was formerly with EA and Visceral Games for 27 years. Furthermore, Marvel’s post revealed that:

“Their AAA experience adds to an already deep roster, making us well-positioned to deliver on the ambitious goals we’ve set for ourselves with The Avengers Project. It’s a stellar addition of many people who fit incredibly well into our wheelhouse of building game experiences we all love.”

Talking about how the game will take form, Scot Amos, Co-Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics promised that they will be delivering a “completely original Avengers experience” with an immersive narrative that will be packed with iconic characters that fans of the game will be happy about. Furthermore, Amos said that:

“The tremendous progress we’ve made on The Avengers Project further drives us toward our goal of crafting something all Marvel fans will be proud of, and will play for years to come. We can’t wait to show you what we mean in the future.”

It seems like the upcoming Avengers game is on the right track after all. Given Escayg’s experience on working on awesome games such as the Uncharted and The Last Of Us franchises, and Barry’s 27 years of experience in developing games with EA and Visceral, our hopes are high that the game will be a success. Well, hopefully.
