CITADEL: FORGED WITH FIRE is a Breath of Fresh Air in A Crowded Genre

Survival Boredom

The latest hotness in the gaming world, or marketing world, seems to be the so-called Survival genre. While I understand the appeal of these games to a certain extent, there is only so much fun I have found in picking up wood, stones, animal poop and the like to construct axes and loin cloths. Either way, it was awesome to boot up the Early Access version of Citadel: Forged With Fire and find it familiar but instantly distinct from its survival cousins...

Survival Excitement

First off, I was stoked to see a solid fantasy aspect and constructing a sweet wand as my first weapon was refreshing. Yeah, you can construct stone axes, etc but the sheer variety of weapons, items, and potions is awesome for something this early on. Also, while enemy behavior is a bit janky, combat is quite fun and it's a blast to explore the beautiful world whilst enjoying the orchestral tunes in the background. I can't wait to see how this title turns out because it's receiving constant care with patches, content, and messages from the developers. You can check out more on official Steam page.
