Customization In SAINTS ROW Is Deeper Than Ever!

Today, Deep Silver and Volition debuted a presentation of what players can expect for customization from the upcoming Saints Row reboot. Everything from how your character looks to the barrel of your gun was shown off and there is a lot to unpack. The Saints Row series has always had some pretty deep customization but this is next-level. Let’s jump into it!

Character customization is at its peak in Saints Row. You can change the color and/or material of your skin, your eyes, and you even have the choice of using prosthetic limbs. There are a bunch of returning features from the last few titles but something new and cool is the fact that you can customize your character a-symmetrically. This helps when adding make-up or blemishes to their face or even just pulling their face around like Gumby.

Clothing is vast this time around with many different styles of clothing ranging from everyday to the more insane looks. One fantastic aspect of clothing is that it is not gendered. This means you can wear whatever you want, no matter what! It gives players the freedom to let their creativity and personality shine through.

Vehicle customization is back and better than ever! Vehicular customization has always been a staple in Saints Row but here, it has even more meat on the bone. There are special abilities specific to certain vehicles as well as numerous deep customization options to make your ride, yours. We also got a look at a bunch of the new rides such as a pirate ship and even a hoverboard that pays homage to Back to the Future.

You can also customize your arsenal with various paint schemes and decals to make combat fun! The more zany weapons aren’t lost on this reboot though as you still have the ridiculous. Things like rocket-launching guitar cases and umbrella guns are in play for players to pick up. One can only imagine what else they have behind the curtain.

Lastly, you have your gang. You can customize your gang hideout, what your crew looks like, and the vehicles they drive. Going even further, you can also plan to take over different sectors of Santo Ileso. In doing so you have the option to choose what opens in its place, effectively changing the landscape of that specific area.

All in all, Saints Row is certainly shaping up to dive fully into what the series has always done but developing it so much further than ever before. As a longtime fan of the series, I am foaming at the mouth to eventually get to play it for myself.

Saints Row launches on August 23rd, 2022, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC (via Epic Games Store).
