DEAD BY DAYLIGHT Is About To Grow Into A Full Franchise!

For just a brief moment, the fog cleared and through this opening, a glimpse of Dead by Daylight’s future came through and it is plentiful! The folks over at Behaviour Interactive have made some huge announcements and collaborations to bring their cooperative asymmetrical horror title to the next level. This is no longer simply a game; it’s a franchise!

Now that they have reached their 7th anniversary and played out more than 1.8 Billion trials, they are looking into what Year 8 will hold. But before we get into the big details, let’s start off with what was already revealed - Nicolas Cage is being added as a bonus survivor! They didn’t give us a release date, but we know they will be back with more information on his entrance into the fog on July 5th. Check out the initial teaser:

Now, let’s take a look at their collaboration announcements. There are at least four pieces of media coming out that take place within the Dead by Daylight realm.

  1. A single-player choice-based narrative adventure game that is being developed in collaboration with Supermassive Games. More details will be provided in the future.

  2. A multiplayer PvE game for up to 4 players that is being developed in collaboration with Midwinter Entertainment. More details will be provided in the future.

  3. The first issue of Dead by Daylight Comic Book will be published by Titan Comics and it is set for release in June both digitally and physically at retailers.

  4. An official movie is officially in process through collaboration with Hollywood powerhouses Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. More details will be provided in the future.

Of course, this isn’t where their collaboration efforts end either! On top of all of this, they will have some in-game collaborations to provide some unique and branded cosmetics. For instance, they confirmed that they will be bringing an Iron Maiden Collection (featuring Eddie), a Slipknot Collection (featuring their Masks), and a self-collaborated blast from the past Naughty Bear outfit for the Trapper which will even feature its own Mori animation!

The final collaboration they announced includes You! They will be officially hosting the upcoming Artists from The Fog Collection which sets the spotlight on Dead by Daylight’s incredibly talented community and features 4 creators from Canada, the United States, Poland, and Spain designing Outfits for two Killers and two Survivors. The fifth artist hails from Japan and is none other than the colorful Creative Director, Ikumi Nakamura, who designed Cosmetics for The Oni, The Legion, and Yui Kimura. The 7-Outfit Artists From The Fog Collection will be available later this summer. Those who participate in this event have a chance to have their work featured in the game and earn the reward of $4k Canadian with a possible bonus to follow. Details on this event will be available soon!

As for the game itself, the players are getting quite a bit as well. For starters, they revealed their Year 8 Roadmap (seen above) and on it, we can see a bit of what is to come. While they have confirmed that this year we will be getting two licensed killers, released back-to-back, they are kicking it off with the next chapter, which is their first reach into the sci-fi horror genre with the chapter title “End Transmission.”

This chapter introduces the killer known as The Singularity - a sentient AI that feels no empathy. This also means we get a new survivor, Gabriel Soma, and a new map which brings us to a new realm of the entity. This new map will be located on a foreign, alien world that has a human-built base on it. The good news is, with a new type of killer comes a new type of item to fight back against it - the EMP. EMPs can be found in chests whenever The Singularity is loaded into a map. It hasn’t been confirmed you can bring them in with you, but you can surely find them - this is likely due to their use being limited to the new killer.

Along with the new chapter, they will continue to work on improving the game. To do this, they have Four Pillars: Events Evolution, Trust and Security, Live Balance, and Quality of Life. Using this pillar system, they can hone in and focus on 3 things: Perks Update, Map Balancing, and Anti-Camping. They also plan to add quality-of-life updates such as a “Loadout Search” for your inventory navigation and replace players who disconnect from the game with a Bot to keep the game progressing. Each of these updates will come in waves as they continue to improve and expand the game.

Dead by Daylight is a game that is climbing the media tree and starting to cover all of the branches with content for viewers and players on all sides! This game is expanding into having its own movie, comic book series, side games, lore expansion, and more. The question is, what part of the Year 8 announcement are you most excited about?

Dead by Daylight is available on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
