FALLOUT 4 and Its Awesome New Graphical Achievements

Bethesda has always been keen on pushing the envelope when it comes to graphics with the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games. Well they're not stopping that trend with Fallout 4. As we grow ever closer to letting the wastelands of Boston consume our lives we have been seeing more and more of just how stunning this game looks. Bethesda's Creation Engine is really doing some heavy lifting to show gamers just how powerful these new generations of consoles are. They have been working closely with NVIDIA to get the most out of the system's GPU, building a brand new dynamic lighting effect engine and texture mapping. Tiny details such as reflected light from metal and muted bounce off wood and concrete are all playing into effect to build a very realistic lighting engine.

Bethesda has released a list of some of the most impressive features added to this new version of the Creation Engine, which I'll post below along with some pictures showcasing the new lighting and atmosphere techniques. To get the full skinny on what is new, check out the post from their blog this morning.

  • Tiled Deferred Lighting
  • Temporal Anti-Aliasing
  • Screen Space Reflections
  • Bokeh Depth of Field
  • Screen Space Ambient Occlusion
