To this day Grandia and Grandia II stand as some of the greatest RPG’s of their generations. Sure they aren’t as widely recognized as Final Fantasy but fame doesn’t always equal best. Anyways I am getting off track here, both games were retooled and released as part of the Grandia HD Collection on Nintendo Switch and PC last year (for the Switch release). unfortunately, the release was met with a lukewarm reception as both games suffered a number of technical issues.
But, it looks like these problems are going to finally be addressed as the Grandia HD Collection is getting a free update today. Numerous bug fixes are being applied to both Grandia and Grandia II to deliver a better experience for fans of these 2 classics. This update also brings full Japanese language support to the game allowing users to transition between languages as they wish. To celebrate the new update and Japanese launch of the game, GungHo Online Entertainment America has released a series of new videos and written statements from the games original creators and actors on their official website!
I am happy to see these classic games continue to get polished for a new generation and not abandoned in their old state. If you own the title you should see an update prompt the next time you try to play them(assuming you don’t have auto update enabled). The Grandia HD Collection is available now on PC and Nintendo Switch.
