Intriguing New Sci-Fi Action-Adventure Game VERONA on Kickstarter

Originally presented at PAX East in Boston earlier this year, the Hungarian studio Prior Games has taken to Kickstarter to fund their incredibly unique action-adventure game. The project is entitled Verona and it draws inspiration from Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet along with the good-bad-guys approach of Firefly.

The story follows a group of bandits for hire on a dying Earth that is spiraling ever closer to the sun. These mercenaries are hired by the insanely wealthy to extract priceless artifacts off the planet and bring them to the newly formed colonies. But when they cross paths with the make-shift police force on this planet at the brink of the Apocalypse they get more than they bargained for.

Prior Games promises unique storytelling mixed in with clean-cut combat. A sort of TellTale's Walking Dead mixed with a touch of Mass Effect. There are no aliens, you're not trying to save the planet, you're just a group of rough-riders trying to survive on a planet that's dying.

I only post Kickstarter campaigns I truly believe in and back myself, and this is one of them. The story is so promising that I can't wait to see what is done with it. Verona's campaign is looking to raise $375,000 USD, and a $15 donation will get you all 5 episodes of the first season. Check it out, and if it tickles your fancy, toss a couple bucks their way.
