Looks like we could be getting some official news on the Portal film "very soon" according to J.J. Abrams. The director spoke with IGN on the red carpet for Westworld and said both Portal and Half-Life projects are alive and well...
"We have a meeting coming up next week with Valve, we’re very active, I’m hoping that there will be a Portal announcement fairly soon"
Abrams wouldn't give a hint one way or another if Portal would be following the storyline of the games, but did say this...
"We are having some really interesting discussions with writers, many of whom...once you said you’re doing a movie or show about a specific thing that is a known quantity you start to find people who are rabid about these things. As someone who loves playing Half Life and Portal, what’s the movie of this, it’s incredible when you talk to someone who just ‘gets’ it, it’s like, oh my god, it’s really the seed for this incredible tree you’re growing."
I don't think we have anything to worry about when it comes to J.J. Abrams making a sci-fi hit. I wonder what announcement he could have for us soon? Perhaps a casting announcement?! Who would be the girl to play Chell? Let's hope we get the true voice of GLADOS Ellen McClain on board!
