Metroid Prime 4 Development Update!

New information has surfaced on the status of Metroid Prime 4! First announced at E3 2017, very little has been said or revealed about one of the Switch’s most anticipated titles. In a new interview with Mashable, Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aimé, has given us a brief glimpse at the thought process behind release schedules and a brief update on Metroid Prime 4.

This is something that Mr. [Shinya] Takahashi really thinks deeply about as head of all of our internal development. We certainly think about launching key games during key selling seasons. So it was well thought-through to have, for example, Zelda as a key launch title when the Switch first came out. It was well thought-of to have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 to maintain momentum in that early launch window... It was thought-out to have a game like Super Mario Party to kick off our October selling season. It was well thought-of to have Pokémon and Smash Bros. as key anchors.

Reggie was then asked about how Metroid Prime 4 fit into this schedule.

Internally, we have expectations about when [Metroid Prime 4] is going to be released. We haven’t announced it, but yeah, the game is well in development.

While this may not be the type of info about Metroid Prime 4 everyone is looking for, as it contains literally no details about the game, news that development is well under way is a good thing. As the game progresses, smoothly I hope, We will begin to hear more news about it sooner rather than later. I am hoping by E3 2019 we will get more concrete details about the features most players are truly interested in, like plot and settings. Until then I am happy to know to project marches on!
