A new sci-fi shooter from Private Division and V1 Interactive named Disintegration has been announced. Disintegration takes place in the not so distant future where humankind is on the verge of eradication. To stave off extinction, human kind begins turning to technology to survive. through this process a new superpower comes into being and begins to enslave the what remains of humanity. Check out the reveal trailer below!

The game is being developed by V1 interactive, a studio made up of 30+ industry veterans. Led by Marcus Lehto, co-creator of the Halo franchise and former creative director at Bungie, the studio looks to change up the norms of a sci-fi shooter.

Disintegration is not your standard first-person shooter and it will challenge how you approach the battlespace. You will explore a world forever changed by an ongoing global conflict. The only way to save life as we know it is by making strategic decisions in every firefight, both as an armed Gravcycle pilot and as the commander of your crew.
— Marcus Lehto, President and Game Director at V1 Interactive

Disintegration will feature a full campaign having players will assume the role of Romer Shoal, an expert Gravcycle pilot and commander of a small group of fighters. The story plays out from Shoal’s perspective as he fights and leads his team to save what remains of humanity.

The game takes place in this beautiful world and has a story wrought with hardship and triumph. Both of these aspects could be the focal point of a single game, but V1 takes it one step further. Not only does Disintegration bring an immersive game world and gripping narrative, the game delivers the ability to sit both within and above combat in a completely different way than anything else out there right now.
— Kari Toyama, Senior Producer at Private Division

Disintegration will also feature 3 different multiplayer modes at launch and is expected to come with a variety of maps for each. Matches will all be squad based with 3 players assuming ground roles while one player will be in a Gravcycle. Different squads can be chosen each with varying loadouts. sadly no further information has been given at this time. Disintegration is expected to launch digitally for PC, PS4 and Xbox One in 2020 at a price of $49.99.

The premise behind Disintegration looks intriguing and the squad based mechanics while being in the air look like they have real potential. The pedigree behind V1 Interactive is also very promising with loads of roots in the sci-fi shooter space. This is definitely one I will personally be keeping a close eye on in the coming months!
