Renovation Games Are Coming To The Evercade

Blaze Entertainment and Edia Co Ltd announced an upcoming cartridge for the Evercade console. The cartridge features a collection of games that were originally published by Telenet in Japan and Renovation in the United States. The cartridge is set for release in early 2022 with pre-orders opening November 2021.

Evercade released a trailer featuring the games in the Renovation Collection 1 cartridge, which can be found below. In fact, here is the list of the games:

  • Arcus Odyssey

  • Beast Wrestler

  • Dino Land

  • El Viento

  • Exile

  • Final Zone

  • Gaiares

  • Granada

  • Sol-Deace

  • Traysia

  • Valis: The Fantasm Soldier

  • Valis 3

Let me say this; the Valis games are phenomenal! I am still kicking myself for selling Valis 3 as a teen. I have often thought of re-buying the game, but now I don’t need to.

The Nintendo Switch is set to get the PC Engine Valis (use Google Chrome to translate the Japanese text to English, if necessary) games, but only in Japan. If you want to try out Valis IV, you can play it on Nintendo Switch Online. I am a little torn because I will take the English Sega Genesis / Mega Drive games over the PC Engine games in Japanese. There is definitely some dialog that adds to the story. Looking at the site, I do not see anything indicating that they will have English dialog.

Value

The cartridge features the aforementioned twelve games that are expensive to purchase individually, and never before released in Europe. You can experience rare games from the 16-bit era. If you were to purchase the original version of these titles, complete in the box, it would set you back over $1,400! The cartridge will be released with a physical clamshell case with a printed manual. This will be the 23rd retro gaming cartridge from Evercade.

This new collection will also be playable on all Evercade systems. This is important to note because at this time, the Namco cartridges are not supported on the Evercade VS.

Out of the collection, I am looking forward to Valis, Valis 3, Sol-Deace, and El-Viento most. What titles in this list interest you?
