Bandai Namco have a wonderful history of bringing characters from other games into their fighting games. I leaned more on the Soul Calibur side than Tekken, but always loved when guest star fighters were brought in, especially Ezio from Assassins Creed.
There was always something magical about the Soul Calibur series that drew me in, the tale of two swords, the various weapons that could be used during combat. Tekken’s convoluted fighting style and button mashing hoping you get combos right was always so frustrating to me, and set me apart from the expert Tekken fighters out there.
As can be seen in the video trailer above, it has been revealed that Noctis from Final Fantasy XV fame will be joining the Tekken 7 roster of fighters for next year's release. The video was released at the Tekken World Tour Finals .
It's quite an exciting trailer, and you can see just how Noctis will fight with some of his gameplay moves. I'm not all that familiar with the character though, but I'm hoping this will bring a thrill to any FFXV or Noctis fans out there.
Harping back onto the Soul Calibur bandwagon, it would have been greater if he had joined a SC roster, so we could see his awesome sword get in on the action. I’d be interested to see which fighters he is best to use against in Tekken 7, and just how great that moveset really is.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on further Tekken 7 development and hope to see more characters being added. We’re sure we will be getting many more trailers before launch day. Are you one of a FFXV fan? Does Noctis joining the roster excite you, or is there another Final Fantasy fighter you would have preferred? Let me know in the comments.
