Steam Input Adds Support for The Switch Pro Controller

Valve announced via the Steam blog yesterday that Steam support for Nintendo’s Switch Pro Controller is now available if the player signs up on the latest Steam Beta.

“We think it is a great device with a feature set that pairs nicely with your Steam catalog,” the blog post revealed. “The d-pad is ideal for fighting games and platforms, and the gyro enhancers aim in your action/FPS titles.”

It certainly helps to have the Switch Pro controller as an available input device on Steam. While it may not be the preferred controller of the majority of PC gamers, the Switch Pro controller offers a chunky, comfortable feel and the gyroscope will help with precision aiming for shooter games.

Although the Switch Pro Controller is possible to use before the official support from Steam was released via a Bluetooth connection. However, it’s not as smooth to use and would require the player to have a third party application for it to function correctly. Now, as Steam officially supports the controller, it is expected that it will run much smoother and more optimized for the PC.
