The Digital Edition Of A GAME OF THRONES: THE BOARD GAME Is Coming Later This Year

GoT fans will finally be able to experience the FFG classic board game when A Game of Thrones: The Board Game - Digital Edition launches later this year. It’s currently set for a Q3 release, and it will be available on PC and Mac via Steam.

Asmodee Digital has been a big influence in developing digital adaptations for board games, and this latest game is one of the most exciting releases to date.

And now we’ve got a closer look at the game with some screenshots. Scroll through the gallery below to see what to expect from the digital version of the strategy game.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the last decade, A Game of Thrones is the television series and also the board game based on the best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire book series. The board game was designed by Christian T. Petersen and the upcoming digital adaptation was developed by Dire Wolf.

In the tabletop game, players control one of the houses of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. It involves complex strategies with military supply lines, troop management, castle sieges, and continental warfare on land and sea. The digital edition will allow up to six players for single-player gameplay and online multiplayer with other players or AI opponents.

Here are the key features in A Game of Thrones: The Board Game - Digital Edition:

  • Up to six players

  • Three game modes - solo play, pass & play, and online multiplayer

  • More streamlined game durations

  • Tabletop mechanics including resource management, area control, hidden actions, and variable card abilities

  • Asymmetrical strategy involving social, political, and military gameplay

  • Digitally-enhanced graphics based on physical assets from the board game

  • Step-by-step tutorial & digital exclusive challenges

All of this is coming later this year! Man, I’m so excited about this. Big strategy games like this can be difficult to coordinate. Especially now with more social distancing rules in place, the ability to play a game like this remotely via Steam on PC and Mac is just fantastic.
