With the new year upon us, there is a lot to look forward to. For developers Hot Chili Games, along with publishers PID Games and East2West Games, they look forward to launching their next upcoming Metroidvania-style 2D platformer game Elypse. To help prepare players for their game as well, they released a new gameplay trailer showing off some of the environments and hectic moments.

In this new trailer, we get a good look at a lot of the different abilities and platformering that will be involved in this game. From wall jumping to chain linking and the more defensive stuff like light attacks and shields, there is a good mix shown off as they move through the various environments. Plus, we get a bit more details of the story itself.

Every ten years, a sacrifice must be made to protect your people form the Abyss, a place as worshipped as it is feared. This time, you were chosen and thrown into the darkness… Nobody has ever returned, but perhaps you can achieve the impossible!

Elypse is set to launch in 2023 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. Will you be ready to climb out of the Abyss?
