BETRAYAL AT HOUSE ON THE HILL Meets DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS in BETRAYAL AT BALDUR'S GATE
Back in October, I made a list of 5 games great for that month and the first entry was Betrayal at House on the Hill. This game is great because it’s never the same game twice. Between the 50 (100 with the expansion) scenarios or haunts, and a modular board that is never the same game to game, this game is always fresh. Now, the lovely people at Avalon Hill have teamed up with Wizards of the Coast to combine this fantastic game with another love of mine, Dungeons and Dragons.
Instead of a creepy haunted mansion, players will now be exploring Baldur’s Gate. Baldur’s Gate is a city-state inside the Forgotten Realms from the magical world of Dungeons and Dragons that players have come to love over the years, and has inspired two popular video games.
Betrayal had some of the best storytelling I’ve seen from a board game, and combining that with the likes of Baldur’s Gate is sure to only make it better. From the description of the game:
Never Split the Party…Unless Someone is the Traitor!
The shadow of Bhaal has come over Baldur’s Gate, summoning monsters and other horrors from the darkness!
As you build and explore the iconic city’s dark alleys and deadly catacombs, you must work with your fellow adventurers to survive the terrors ahead. That is, until some horrific evil turns one—or possibly more—of you against each other. Was it a mind flayer’s psionic blast or the whisperings of a deranged ghost that caused your allies to turn traitor? You’ll have no choice but to keep your enemies close!
Based on the award-winning Betrayal at House on the Hill board game, Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate you’ll return to Baldur’s Gate again and again only to discover it’s never the same game twice.
Can you and your party survive the madness or will you succumb to the mayhem and split (or slaughter!) the party?

This game should be great if you have a love of both games already, if you want to introduce your friends to the world of Dungeons and Dragons, or if you want to get your D&D obsessed friend to play something else. You can even pre-order it from Amazon now!
