Biggest Takeaways From The Xbox Games Showcase Pre-Show!

The Xbox Games Showcase has come to a close with opinion across the net divided on how well Microsoft showcased the power of next-gen hardware. Even with a packed hour of games and reveals there was more to be had if players tuned into Geoff Keighley’s pre-show. While the guest content creator segments left little to be desired there were a number of cool game reveals.

Dragon Quest XI S

Dragon Quest is finally coming to Xbox One with last years Switch exclusive version Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age. This version of Dragon Quest XI S is subtitled the definitive version and will include all previously released content. On top of the base game, a throwback 2D game mode will be available as well as an extra boss fight. To make the thought of Playing Dragon Quest XI S even more tantalizing on Xbox, the game will be included as part of Xbox Games Pass upon release! Dragon Quest XI S is set to release on December 4, 2020 with a PS4 and PC edition launching the same day.

EXOMECHA

EXOMECHA is a new free-to-play first-person shooter that is set to hit Xbox consoles in late 2021. Playing as a mech the brief trailer showed a number of absurd combat possibilities ranging from missile riding, sword and axe fighting, to taking on giant fire breathing dragon mechs! A number of vehicles can also be used in the combat zone including cars tanks and helicopters. By the way how cool was that grapple up to the chopper?! EXOMECHA will feature a number of different game types and puts strong emphasis on its mixture of short and long range combat. It definitely looks intriguing so I can’t wait to see how this one turns out.

Echo Generation

Echo Generation is an odd looking RPG. Everything from its voxel art style to tones is very stylized and it lands in that perfect spot of intrigue. Players are in control of a couple of kids, and a cat, as they explore their small town. Along their journey the party will do combat with different types of monsters and mechs. I have been hearing people compare it to both Earthbound and Stranger Things which is quite honestly a good sum up here!

Hello Neighbor 2

Hello Neighbor is officially getting a sequel in Hello Neighbor 2. This time around the intense game of hide or die amps the creepy factor up a notch as the psycho neighbor is now sporting a weird bird costume! Or rather he is in the trailer at least. Hiding evading and making use of the environment are all essential to survival. Can you make it out alive?

Balan Wonderworld

Balan Wonderworld is probably the best reveal during the pre-show. The Square Enix Published title was revealed by former Sega vets Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima as a musical platforming journey looking to capture the essence of games like Night Into Dreams. Unsurprisingly, the game looks like it takes some design inspiration from said title, and Sonic Adventure 2, with its characters and levels. Throughout the journey in Wonderworld, Players will need to make their way through 12 stages and can unlock over 80 different costumes each with their own abilities. Did you notice the Sonic inspired one?! With big boss fights thrown in for good measure, Balan Wonderworld looks like the next 3D Platformer to keep an eye on! The game is set to release across Xbox One, Series X, PC, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch in Spring 2021!

But that pretty much covers it as far as big reveals are concerned. What did you think of the Xbox Games Showcase pre-show? Did any of these titles or the newest trailer for Watch Dogs: Legion get you excited for the future of gaming? Let us know in the comments below!
