Blizzard's OVERWATCH Story Events Now Called OVERWATCH Archives
A few days ago, developer Blizzard announced that they would be returning Overwatch Uprising, which immerses players into the history of Overwatch through PvE story events. However, it is now called Overwatch Archives and will begin with the Retribution event.
In the latest developer update for Overwatch, game director Jeff Kaplan and lead engineer Tim Ford announced the return of the event. They said that they wanted players to explore “all of these cool past moments in Overwatch history, and by going into the archives, we can relive those, and Uprising was just one of those events.”
Furthermore, Kaplan said that “more content and more parts of the event that we’re going to talk about later.” To add to that, the original Uprising event will also be playable during the Archives. Lastly, Kaplan ended the update by teasing players for Retribution, the latest installment of the Overwatch Archives. You can watch the full developer update below:
The Overwatch team will also make an appearance during the Overwatch League broadcast, which will happen today, April 4 and the devs will be showcasing a video that will go into detail about what to expect in Archives this year.
The Uprising event and presumably the upcoming events on the Archives will go live on April 10 and will last until April 30. Be sure to check it out for a more in-depth Overwatch experience.
