CREATIVE T60 DESKTOP SPEAKERS Review: Compact Audio Bliss

Aesthetics and Build Quality

We’ve been covering Creative gear for several years now and while there have been a few products that aren’t best in class, most of their products have excelled in not only the looks department but performance and value. Today we are taking a look at the recently launched T60 Compact Hi-Fi 2.0 Desktop Speakers. That’s basically a way of saying massive sound in a very small package.

Rewinding a bit here, the T60’s are simple yet sturdy and solid. Their size is definitely deceiving but the looks, glossy feel, and extremely weighty design is very appealing indeed. These are easy on the easy, desk space, and a incredibly well built.

Performance

After not expecting much initially from their small size, I was a bit swayed after feeling how sturdy these little beauties are, my interest and curiosity started to grow. I put these little puppies through the ringers from movies to games to music and WOW, did I come away impressed. Creative knocked this one out of the park. The most impressive part of the T60 is the balanced audio from the low, mid, and high range in such a compact set. Movies filled the small room with swelling themes, games like the latest Chernobylite buzzed, popped, and thumped it’s way into my head as I blasted baddies, and music from classical to EDM just sounded sublime. These are truly impressive for the price and the form factor.

Every creepy yet subtle sound from Chernobylite was stunning on the T60s.

What It Could Have Done Better

To be honest, there isn’t a lot here that is lacking besides the one glaring issue I think any high-quality set of speakers should offer these days: Optical audio in. While I imagine it’s cost-prohibitive, it sure would be nice to have options to connect optical devices or TV passthrough. I keep seeing this on various devices that are high enough quality to benefit from optical connections.

Verdict

If you can’t tell by now, I absolutely loved my time with the T60s and wouldn’t hesitate recommending them to anyone looking to enhance their audio experience especially if they want a gorgeous, non-intrusive look on their desktop or even bedroom or living room area. The amount of balanced, quality audio that comes from these small wonders is extremely impressive all at the more than fair asking price MSRP of $79.99.
