Board game creator Awaken Realms has announced the launch of a Gamefound crowdfunding campaign for a board game inspired by the hit S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, made in collaboration with the games' developer GSC Game World.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R: The Board Game is set to take a tactical approach, with players learning to balance out stealth and combat mechanics to navigate a range of dangerous scenarios and escape in one piece. The campaign has already wildly surpassed its intended total, reaching over 4000% of its goal by the time of writing!

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R series is an ongoing collection of games inspired by the novel Roadside Picnic. They take place in The Zone, an alternate-world version of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, where strange forces are at work that seems to violate the laws of physics.

The Zone's mysteries, and valuable artifacts contained within, attract people nicknamed S.T.A.L.K.E.Rs, who try to tackle its enigmas head-on. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S are not the only things roaming the world however, and the would-be treasure hunters need to cope with bandits, hideous mutated creatures, and even the terrifying emissions, which kill anyone unable to find cover.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is currently in development, however, the Ukraine-based GSC Game World faces an uncertain release schedule due to the larger situation in the country.
