CYBERPUNK 2077's Night City Wire: Episode 5 Round-Up
It’s here! Another episode of Night City Wire has come to deliver us players just a little bit more to hold us over until Cyberpunk 2077’s December 10th release date. We get a couple of new trailers, a behind-the-scenes look at Keanu Reeves’ performance as Johnny Silverhand, how the music in the world was put together, how the characters exhibit different languages, and how to score some free in-game goodies! Let’s get into the latest episode and talk about it all!
The stream started with the above trailer and flowed into this awesome behind-the-scenes video of Reeves’ take on what it took to get his performance put together for Cyberpunk. Known as Hollywood’s best “nice guy”, it’s always cool to see Reeves having a great time and showing us what he does best, being awesome! It gets me so pumped to know that we’re going to be seeing a lot of this gent in the finished product!
Next came up the score and soundtrack aspect of the stream. They talk about how they decided to sculpt the sounds of Night City and how to bring it out. There are a bunch of major recording artists that each had a part in bringing the world to life. The coolest piece though comes in the form of a toggle option in the title’s settings. It allows you to stream and record gameplay without getting copyright strikes against you by swapping songs that could potentially cause an issue. It looks like this may just be the beginning of us seeing things like this being implemented in more games.
CD Projekt Red also highlighted their use of JALI. This technology is used to make facial movements connected to speech look effortless. Having different dialects not only changes the spoken words but the facial movements that belong to each one. It won’t look like a dubbed voice-over but something organic. Again, it’s just things like this that make the game stand out so much.
It’s also be announced that gamers across all consoles who connect their gaming profiles to a GOG.com account would also be getting a ton of in-game rewards both at launch and going into the future. We don’t seem to see many free additions like this being added to games these days so it’s a welcomed announcement for sure. You can get cosmetic items for Cyberpunk 2077, cards for Gwent, and much more!
Besides what was shown in this latest episode of Night City Wire, CD Projekt Red treated us to a little Night City Wire Special a couple of days ago! The special shows off the amazing graphical capabilities of both the Xbox One X and the Xbox Series X. It’s about 10 minutes of gameplay and gives us more glimpses of the NPCs, environments, and gunplay. It really makes me wish the game was out already because I just can’t wait to get this thing in my hands!
That’s it for the latest on Night City Wire, now all we can do is sit and wait for the December 10th release date and hope that it doesn’t move again. Who knows, we might even get another Night City Wire episode before then? We’ll keep you posted on any updates as we get closer to launch day. You can pre-order Cyberpunk 2077 right now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Google Stadia, and PC!
