Disney Cancels INFINITY Division After Drop In Sales
After a disappointing quarter for its Infinity game division, Disney has canceled the brand along with a local studio in Utah, Avalanche Software. The closing of this division has caused Disney to take a 147 million dollar hit to its budget because of current inventory and severance packages. Disney Infinity was released a little over three years ago. The Infinity 3.0 set was released in August of 2015 including releases for the new Apple TV including all the major game consoles. Avalanche Software was founded in 1995 and was purchased by Disney in 2005. Including Avalanche Software almost 300 developers were laid off in this closure.
