FINAL FANTASY 7 REMAKE Was Announced Too Early According To The Game's Director

Last E3, Final Fantasy fans were in for a disappointment as the highly-anticipated title, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, was a no-show at the gaming conference. After the announcement that Square Enix will be hosting its dedicated E3 live stream for the first time since 2015, people expected, including us, that this will be the venue for an update on the remake’s progress.

For now, the game’s director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the game was announced too early. At least fans can cling to the promise that the game is actually in development. However, the developer feels that the remake of Final Fantasy 7 is still in its early stages for an E3 reveal.

“I am well aware of the fact that we announced it too early,” Nomura said to Italian website Multiplayer translated by Kingdom Hearts Insider. “But even in the industry, word was beginning to spread that we were working on the game, so we just decided not to keep it more secret and officially reveal it.”

So that is the reason why Square Enix decided to reveal the remake back in 2015, even though they thought it was too early. They were trying to prevent other sources from leaking the game, which forced them to announce it officially. Furthermore, Nomura is still pre-occupied with the development of Kingdom Hearts 3, set to release on Jan 29, 2019, but promised fans that Final Fantasy 7 is already out of the concept stage.

It's understandable the both Nomura and Square Enix prefer to announce upcoming games ahead of rumors and leaks. However, the only downside to this is that fans will be waiting longer than they should have, which is a bummer for some, but the important takeaway here is that the remake is still on track.
