Footage and Details Surface from Cancelled THE DARK KNIGHT Video Game

Christopher Nolan's classic movie The Dark Knight was supposed to have a tie-in video game released around the same time as the film. Pandemic was the developer creating the game. Unfortunately, the game was never completed or released due to a lot of bad decisions and a string of unlucky events.

Footage from the development of this game has surfaced online in a video detailing the story behind this game and everything that led up to its failure. The video was created by Unseen64, which is a non-profit online archive dedicated to the preservation of video game history.

Some of the problems consisted of a lack of supplied materials from Warner Bros. Pictures showing details of how the film and its characters and vehicles would look, so they couldn't do any proper designs for the game. On top of that, they settled on using an open world game engine called Odin, which didn't work out for them at all. You can get all of the nitty gritty details in the video below. It's fully of fascinating insight.

This cancelled Batman project was an open world stealth action game being made by Pandemic Studios to be published by EA. It was in development from 2006 to 2008, and was originally meant to release alongside The Dark Knight movie. The game would also feature actors from the film doing voiceover.
