FOR HONOR Will Have An Open Beta for All Players
If you missed out on the first beta session for For Honor, then you will be happy to know that they are going to allow a second session of beta players to enjoy their game from February 9th till the 12th. The game is expected to launch, in full, on February 14th; literally right after the second beta.
The open beta will include a new mode on top of the already included Duels, Brawls and Dominion, which will be called Elimination, as well as nine total playable characters. In the full game, there is expected to be five game modes and twelve total playable characters, so the second beta still won't feature everything that For Honor will have to offer. But, at least there will be a new mode to check out and we can get some more practice in on the other modes!
This second beta session is a great idea for Ubisoft to promote the game further, increasing sales and hype before launch, as well as a chance to get players to find any issues within the games software and mechanics. Plus, it being open for all players to enjoy gives everybody a chance to test the game out for themselves and see if it is worthy of a full purchase, in their own opinion. Fair to the players and helpful for the developers; classic win-win situation.
For Honor Jan. 26-29 Beta Impression
The first beta session showed the combat between players, three different multiplayer game modes and the battle for land between the three different factions. While there were many classes to choose from, there was only a few days to play, so I stuck with the characters in the Samurai faction; which is the faction I joined as well. After trying out the different options from the faction, I found myself most comfortable with Nobushi.
The game is a lot of fun and will become a challenging online game once players reach a hardcore level of skill in the combat of this game. Although, the game did tend to seem repetitive, but I am blaming the lack of game mode options for this. 1v1 and 2v2 are great, but it's nice to play other modes.
Which brings me to Dominion. I feel this was a very fair version of "King of the Hill," with the team that loses the base losing points and the team that took the base gaining the points that the other team lost and the killing of NPC grunt soldiers adding a point to the meter, it wasn't just about holding the bases as long as possible, but about taking out as many people as possible on your way to getting another base. This was my favorite mode of the beta and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute playing this version.
Overall, the game is intense, challenging and fun. With practice, you can get the hang of the controls, moves and combos that your selected character can make and start to use them in a combination with the environment to conquer your foes! The faction battle over land mass was an interesting aspect, but not a fun one. I hope that the land mass ownership doesn't effect much of the game play and is rather just a side battle between the factions; almost like a mini-game.

I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield, my friends. For our fight, shall be remember. For our fight shall be one that is FOR HONOR!
