FORTNITE Apologizes to Players for Server Problems with In-Game Freebies
Fortnite players were disappointed after the latest 3.5 update made the game unplayable for many on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and mobile, due to numerous bugs and technical issues. Most of the problems have been resolved by Epic Games. However, the company plans to make up for it by giving several freebies to Fortnite players.
“It’s been no secret that over the past 24 hours we’ve been experiencing issues with our services that have prevented many of you from playing Battle Royale and Save the World. We’re sorry,” Epic Games said in a post on their official website. “We know how frustrating this has been. We messed up here.”
To make it up to players who were “awesome and patient,” Epic Games will be offering free items that can be claimed for a limited time. Starting this weekend, Battle Royale Players can avail of a free Back Bling item. Also, Save the World players can get a Troll Stash Llama. Both items will be available in the in-game stores of their respective modes.
Battle Royale players will also receive a “pack of Battle Stars,” which can be used to rank up the Battle Pass and earn rewards. In addition, Save the World players will be receiving an amount of seasonal gold. Players should note that unlike the store freebies, these will require some downtime in the servers to distribute, so these will be added as part of the scheduled update next week.
Lastly, Epic Games plans to release a “detailed post-mortem” of the problem Fortnite experienced this week, and the developer is committed to “improve services” in the future. The post-mortem is scheduled to be released later next week.
