Gametyrant's Top 5 Indie Games of 2017

In light of The Game Awards 2017 broadcasting live to hand out the well-earned awards to games from multiple different catagories, the team here at Gametyrant has taken a poll to decide what our Top 5 Indie Games of 2017 are. While multiple games were taken into consideration, our picks are ones that we truly believe deserve to win the Best Indie Game of 2017 award!

In First Place:

The challenging yet fun title from Studio MDHR, Cuphead!

The creative art style that was inspired by 1930's cartoon mixed with the amazing run and gun style gameplay deserves this thanks to the efforts of creating a uniquely-hand drawn game that brought entertainment to just about every player that gave it a shot.

In Second Place:

With over 20 million downloads and an incredibly active community behind it is Bluehole Studio's Playerunknown's Battlegrounds!

A last-man-standing shooter being developed with community feedback that brings hours of entertainment to both players and viewers of streamers that feature the title, PUBG has brought to life a game mode that will never get old.

In Third Place:

Bringing the reality of the mental illness and brings a warrior's brutal journey into myth and madness is Ninja Theory with their title, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice!

Creating an amazing tale for players to experience and really raising awareness on disorder's such as schizophrenia while providing an exciting amount of gameplay through a balanced mix of puzzles and battle.

In Fourth Place:

Bringing a horror classic to life in a way that allows players to be the iconic character as well as the iconic victims in a balanced cat-and-mouse style survival game is Gun Media with Friday the 13th: The Game!

Despite the flaws that many players have experienced and the patches that have been sent out in hopes of fixing them, this game is always fun and a great online party game to have some fun by chasing down your friends and getting a few brutal kills in before the timer runs out or everybody escapes.

In Fifth Place:

The scary and nerve-racking sequel to the well-received original from Red Barrels, Outlast 2!

Sullivan Knoth and his followers, who left our wicked world behind to give birth to Temple Gate, a town, deep in the wilderness and hidden from civilization. Knoth and his flock are preparing for the tribulations of the end of times and you’re right in the thick of it.

And those are the chosen Top 5 Indie Games of 2017 from the team here at Gametyrant! We hope to see the truly best game out there win the official award on the 7th. So tell us, what do you think about our list? Do you agree?

I plan to watch The Game Awards 2017 as they go live and can't wait to see the awards handed out. Last year had a few upsets and no doubt this year will as well, but what game are you hoping to see win the official Best Indie Game of 2017 award at The Game Awards on Thursday?
