Glorious Model I Gaming Mouse Review: The Best Budget Gaming Mouse On The Market

Review Sample Provided by Glorious

The folks at Glorious have been on a clear hot streak lately with not only the release of their GMMK 2 Mechanical Gaming Keyboards but now the Model I Gaming Mouse which is here to steal the show. With a satisfyingly smooth glide, comfortable shape, and impressive button features, this is one of the best gaming mice you could possibly get for its fair price.

What’s in the Box

As always, Glorious provides a premium albeit simple approach to the unboxing experience. Inside you’ll find the Model I mouse itself as well as 6 swappable buttons for the left side of it. It’s a wired gaming mouse so there really isn’t too much to be expected besides what comes inside anyhow.

Aesthetics and Build Quality

The Model I really manages to teeter the line between having that “gamer” look and looking more “mature” overall. Its total blacked-out plastic design goes really well with its bright RGB lighting and I really fell in love with its visual presentation when paired with the GMMK 2s. The honeycomb cutouts also give it a cool look and allow you to see inside to its blackout-out internals as well which I found pretty nifty.

I found its build quality to be pretty great overall, especially for a gaming mouse in this price range. Even though it features that honeycomb design, it still manages to be pretty durable. It doesn’t really creak too much when squeezed. I also love the fact that the G-Skates Mouse Feet are extremely secure to the bottom of the mouse. They aren’t going anywhere.

For $59.99, this mouse offers way more features than I would have expected. As I said, the G-Skates are fantastic. On top of that, the sensor is smooth and never missed a beat in the exuberant amount of time I was using this mouse. And of course, there are 11 mappable buttons that can be remapped via Glorious’ CORE software.

My favorite feature of the Model I though has to be its removable side buttons. There are 6 different variants included with two basically being plugs that virtually remove them from it. The buttons that can be swapped out are placed both where the tip of your thumb lays and towards the back, just perfectly so that it can be bumped with ease.

Gameplay

All of what I’ve already talked about lend perfectly to the fact that the mouse is fantastic. The feel of it in my hands fit like a glove. The way my thumb lays on its side “pad” and how I’m able to grip it with my hybrid claw/palm grip style was very comfortable when gaming or working. Its wide left and right buttons are really big which also feels really comfortable. Some mice just don’t have a big enough set of them and it can be a bit tedious. You can basically get this thing to respond by clicking almost anywhere on them.

The Model I is a smooth ride in every sense. Between its light weight, the skates, and its sensor, this is a near-perfect experience. I’m also a huge fan of the removable buttons. At first, I wasn’t going to use them but as I played around with the mice more and more, I absolutely enjoyed being able to map things as I needed because it was so comfortable. And its Ascend Cord is pretty sweet too as there really isn’t much drag at all.

What It Could Have Done Better

I kind of wish there was another spot on the right side for my fingers to sit. I loved that the left had the spot for my thumb as it made the movement so smooth, so it would’ve been cool to have something similar on the other side as well. I found my fingers sliding across the desk a bit more than I’ve noticed with other mice and though it isn’t a nausance, it is worth mentioning if you have larger hands.

Verdict

At its MSRP of $59.99, the Glorious Model I is an absolute steal. Its comfort and features are impressive, to say the least. It’s fantastic to see quality products coming in at this more budget-friendly price, as you get quite the bang for your buck. Quite possibly my favorite mouse that I’ve used in years, this really isn’t one that should go unnoticed. I can only hope that a wireless version is in the cards for the near future.
