Here Are 10 Games That Would Likely Be On A Gameboy Classic
News has broken that Nintendo has filed a patent for a Game Boy of sorts, and with the recent success of the NES Classic and SNES Classic...we have to assume a Game Boy Classic is coming. That said, we compiled a list of 20 of the best games on the platform that would likely make the list. Check it out below and let us know what you think.
Tetris
Not the sexiest addition on the list, but it is the best selling Game Boy game of all time. It's also a game that smartphones have made less accessible throughout the years so you'll likely get quite a few playing it just for the nostalgia. '
F-1 Race
There's no Mario Kart on the OG Game Boy, so this will have to do.
Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow
I'm not exactly sure if they would just put all 3 in separate deal or they'd just do some weird combination of the three. In either case, the prospect of Pokemon on a Game Boy classic is exciting as it means the option of trading with other owners would be on the table. If that's happening, who knows what plans Nintendo has in store for this device?
Donkey Kong Land
This is definitely not the most graphics intensive game on the platform, but it was fun to play back in the day regardless. No way DK gets put in the corner for a Game Boy Classic, even if his game is a bit mediocre.
The Legend Of Zelda: Oracle Of Seasons/Ages
Two of the most slept on Zelda titles of all time. One of the best parts of a Game Boy Classic becoming a possibility is that these often forgotten Zelda games will get a chance to shine again. While both games were a huge critical and commercial success back in the day, they've gotten little chance to shine in the current era, and this system could be their perfect opportunity.
The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Three Zelda titles on one system? Believe it. If Oracle of Ages/Seasons both get a spot on the platform, it'd be hard to imagine Link's Awakening doesn't arrive as well. The game doesn't offer as deep of an experience as the two prior Zelda titles, but it does offer an odd adventure with an even odder ending!
Warioland: Super Mario Land 3
The Super Mario Land series has not aged well over the years. The graphics are lacking and the games are relatively short. That said, Warioland is a classic that tried to become a franchise and ultimately fizzled out. Playing through the game as Wario with all his abilities was a refreshing change of pace that most gamers today should experience at least once.
Game & Watch Gallery
Because Nintendo doesn't give a damn about what you want and they're all about shoving their history down your throats. That said, some of the games in this franchise were fun to play in my youth, so I can't knock them too hard. If nothing else you'll get a bundle of 4-5 games so it's like you'll be getting a bonus set of titles.
Kirby's Dream Land
Kirby games would definitely get much more difficult after this title, but this game is fun for what it is. Kirby got a lot of love on the SNES Classic, so you gotta think he'll get at least one title on this platform should it be happening.
Pokemon Trading Card Game
This one is just wishful thinking on my part, but damn I want to see this game back out! I can't tell you the countless hours I spent deck building and battling other trainers in this game and having an absolute blast! I don't imagine Nintendo will get permission from Wizards of the Coast to do this game again though, so it's basically a pipe dream.
Any other titles you'd like to see? Let us know in the comments!
