I Need MORE-Tal Kombat

Xbox review code provided by Warner Bros Games

Playing the game later than I hoped and not having as much time recently I finally got around to playing Mortal Kombat 1. What I can say is, wow, just wow. I’m disappointed… That I don’t have more time to play because this game is so fun! Nether Realm Studios knocked it out of the park with this one.

Like I said I haven’t played much yet, I’ve played through a few towers and some online matches. The online matches ran so smoothly, a problem that has plagued the fighting game community is connection issues and even with my hamster wheel internet I was able to run some online matches with no connection issues. The combat mechanics make for some of the most fun and sweaty combos, the mix of Kameo fighters and the skill level it takes to master a regular fighter really makes a very wide array of Kombos that can be Kreated.

An all star cast of fighters too, I have mainly used Reptile, Kenshi, and Sub-Zero so far. But I can’t wait to try out more, I’m especially excited to unlock Havik and see how he plays. The new designs of the old characters are so freaking cool and I just found myself comparing new and old. Reptile looks so good in this game, his human ninja form looks really nice with his tattoos and the subtle green but his reptile form is something to be reckoned with. He looks so menacing as a reptile and has some insane moves like the Death Roll a crocodile would do. These karacters alone I love, with people rejoining for the first time in forever like Reiko or Nitara it’s nice to see new old faces in this franchise instead of the same ones we see on repeat. The DLC should only add to the greatness.

I will be working on a full review but in the mean time enjoy the game for yourself! Mortal Kombat 1 is available for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam or Epic Games Store.
