ICYMI: The Dreadwolf Rises in DRAGON AGE: DREADWOLF

Earlier this month Bioware took to social media to reveal the official title for the next entry in their fantasy RPG franchise: Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. The title announcement came with new profile images for all of the Dragon Age social media accounts that include the upcoming game’s title on a purple background that appears to be made out of some kind of magical stone.

This new title suggests that Dreadwolf will pick up on some of the loose threads left hanging from the last game in the series, Dragon Age: Inquisition. The Dread Wolf itself is an ancient trickster deity by the name of Fen’Harel, and it is said that he sealed away all the other gods long ago. In Inquisition, Fen’Harel masquerades as Solas, an elven mage who joins the Inquisitor’s quest to stop Corypheus from taking over all of Thedas.

The last players saw of Fen’Harel was in the “Trespasser” DLC for Inquisition, where he had amassed a network of spies and was rallying elves to his cause of freeing them from their servile status. After answering some of the Inquisitor’s questions about his motives and goals, Fen’Harel takes the anchor from the Inquisitor and vanishes through a portal, leaving the Inquisition reeling.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf does not yet have a release date or confirmed platforms, but the Bioware blog does confirm that we will hear more about the game later this year. Until then, check out all our coverage of the exciting games shown during Summer Game Fest 2022.
