INNER ASHES Brings An Intimate Story About Alzheimer's To PlayStation
Looking to provide a touching and meaningful story experience, Calathea Game Studio has announced their upcoming game Inner Ashes. Set to release as a digital-only PlayStation 4 title by Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain, although the official date has yet to be confirmed. This first-person narrative adventure will put players in the shoes of Henry, a forest ranger diagnosed with early Alzheimer's disease.
Players will have to interact with the environment to solve puzzles that will evoke the daily struggles of patients living with this disease. As the game moves on, he will unravel the memories that surround the story of the departure of his only daughter Enid. After all, he embarked on his journey to discover why he and his daughter Enid have been growing apart.
Covering sensitive subject matters in video games is something both bold and risky as it needs to drive the point, deliver a respectfully fitting experience, and bring an experience that engages the players. I am interested to see if they are able to pull it off as it is looking good so far, based on the reveal trailer above.
