Is Bandai Namco Working On METROID 4?

A report from Eurogamer has confirmed that Bandai Namco Studios in Singapore, is already hard at work for the development of Metroid Prime 4 coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Ever since Nintendo revealed back in E3 2017 that the follow up on the original trilogy is in development, several people from the gaming community has been guessing on which studio Nintendo will partner with for the development of Metroid 4. During the event, Nintendo only shared that Retro Studios, the team behind the original series, will not be coming back to develop the game.

Currently, the reports that Bandai Namco is developing Metroid 4, only came from several unnamed sources. However, several evidences have suggested that the rumors are in fact true. First, Bandai Namco has a close relationship with Nintendo as they worked with other games such as the Mario Kart arcade game, the Super Smash Bros for the 3DS and WiiU, and Pokkén Tournament for the WiiU and the Switch. Furthermore, several job descriptions were spotted on LinkedIn, with various staff from Bandai Namco Singapore updating their profiles and saying that they are working on a “secret game”, an “ambitious AAA title”, and a “very interesting unannounced project.”

Given that numerous clues are popping up, and since the staff at Bandai Namco Singapore are not trying to hide their part in the game, the chances are high that these rumors may be true. Although as of yet, there is still no official announcement that the studio is in fact the developer for the upcoming Metroid 4. Nintendo declined to comment on the speculation circulating the development of the game saying that they do not comment on rumor or speculation.

Nevertheless, Metroid 4 is reportedly still in its early stages, and we should not expect a release date of the game for 2018. Don't forget to check out our retro review of Super Metroid here. Do you think Bandai Namco Singapore is behind this game? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
