Major Game Releases For May 2022

It’s a new month, which means there are new game releases on the horizon. While May might be a bit lighter on AAA fare than some recent months, there’s still plenty for gamers to get excited about over the next 31 days. Some indie darlings, a few eagerly anticipated, licensed properties, and one high-flying adventure make up just a few of the exhilarating titles coming to consoles and PC this month.

Trek To Yomi – May 5th (XB1, XBS, XBGP, PS4, PS5, Steam)

Flying Wild Hogs and Devolver Digital

Trek To Yomi is an homage to the culture of Japan and the samurai stories told in Japanese cinema over the years. This black-and-white side-scroller tells the story of Hiroki, a young warrior who sets out on a journey to seek revenge against the men who destroyed his village. The game features precise sword combat that rewards quick reflexes and careful timing.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters – May 5th (PC)

The Warhammer universe is growing a bit bigger this month with Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters. This reboot of the 1998 classic will put players in charge of a squad of heavily armored Grey Knights in the midst of their fight against Nurgle, a god of pestilence and disease. Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters retains the franchise’s signature, turn-based, tactical combat while adding a host of new mechanics to turn up the heat against Nurgle and his minions.

Eiyuden Chronicle Rising – May 10th (XB1, XBS, XBGP, PC)

Eiyuden Chronicle Rising is the latest game from Yoshitaka Murayama, the developer most well-known for his work directing the classic JRPGs, Suikoden and Suikoden II. Eiyuden Chronicle Rising is an action- RPG that tells the story of several characters on the eve of a great war in the realm. Rising will serve as a direct prequel to the forthcoming Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, which is slated to release in 2023.

Evil Dead: The Game – May 13th (XB1, XBS, PS4, PS5, PC)

Evil Dead: The Game is an asymmetrical multiplayer game that puts players in the shoes of a number of different heroes from across the Evil Dead franchise. Four players must work together to complete objectives while holding off the forces of the undead, while a fifth player attempts to sabotage their efforts as the leader of the Deadites.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong – May 19th (XB1, XBS, PS4, PS5, NS, PC)

Big Bad Wolf and Nacon

Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is an action RPG that focuses on three vampires from different clans living in Boston, and it explores the differences between them as they all struggle for survival in a harsh world. Swansong boasts story-altering choices, robust character customization, and a compelling story that spans everything from murder to the inner workings of a vampiric political system.

Sniper Elite 5 – May 26th (XB1, XBS, XBGP, PS4, PS5, PC)

Sniper Elite 5 is the latest entry in the long-running series, and it looks to continue the trend of high-octane, over-the-top, sniper action. Karl Fairburne must once again take to the battlefield to stop another heinous, Nazi threat from coming to fruition. Sniper Elite 5 includes a fully cooperative campaign and an Invasion mode that allows a third player to infiltrate the game world as an enemy sniper.

Microsoft Flight Simulator: Top Gun: Maverick DLC – May 27th (XB1, XBS, XBGP, PC)

As if Microsoft Flight Simulator couldn’t get any cooler, later this month it’s getting military-grade fighter jets in a collaboration with the upcoming film, Top Gun: Maverick. The DLC pack was originally slated for a Fall 2021 release but was delayed to release alongside the movie. This pack will include multiple new aircraft and will be free to all owners of Microsoft Flight Simulator on all platforms.

Pac-Man Museum + – May 27th (XB1, XBGP, PS4, NS, PC)

Now Production and Bandai Namco

This collection of classic Pac-Man games includes titles from across the lifespan of the franchise, serving as a sequel of sorts to the previously released Pac-Man Museum. Pac-Man Museum + features 14 different Pac-Man games, including five that weren’t included in the original collection. New titles include Pac-In-Time, Pac N’ Roll Remix, and Pac-Man 256.
