Microsoft Announces New Members To Xbox Series Consoles Lineup

The recent Xbox Showcase was a spectacular display of Microsoft’s first and third-party lineup, but the event also had a detour for hardware as Microsoft made a few surprise announcements for fans who were looking for more options when it came to buying the Xbox Series family of consoles.

Currently, the market offers the Xbox Series X, the flagship console that retails for $499 and has a functional disc drive to play physical discs on, and the Xbox Series S, that retails for $299 and offers not-as-strong hardwarre, a smaller form factor, and no disc drive.

The newly announced consoles look to change the entry point for console fans, with the most surprising entry being the digital Xbox Series X. It is similar to the Xbox Series X sans the disc drive while still delivering the powerhouse performance the console is known for. In addition, Microsoft also announced a limited edition Galaxy Black with 2TB of internal storage Xbox Series X that will retail for $599.

Lastly, a new Xbox Series S option is there with the familiar robot white color offering 1TB of internal storage, previously the storage option would get you the console in a carbon black color.

Here is a quick list of the prices:

  • Xbox Series S - 1TB Robot White - $349

  • Xbox Series X – 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition - $599.99 (limited supply)

  • Xbox Series X All Digital - 1TB - $449.99

All of the newly announced console versions will be available Holiday 2024, and while a fixed release date was not mentioned, you can expect them to be in shelves by the time you will need to do the necessary shopping for friends and family!
