Microsoft Unifying Xbox Brand Under PC And Console

As it's becoming more and more apparent that PC gaming is the way of the future. While they've been slowly inching that direction for awhile, The Guardian reports Microsoft will be unifying all software between Xbox One and PC under one brand.

While this means that owning a PC will mean you'll get most all Xbox releases without a console, it also means that Microsoft will begin to work towards expanding the hardware of an Xbox One to operate more in the way a PC would. This means graphical enhancements, expanded memory, and continued compatibility of games as time goes on. In the words of Phil Spencer...

"We can effectively feel a little bit more like what we see on PC where I can still go back and run my old Quake and Doom games, but then I can also see the best 4K games coming out. Hardware innovation continues and software takes advantage. I don’t have to jump generation and lose everything I played before.”

It's definitely something a lot harder for me to see as a lifelong strictly console gamer, but I see the appeal. I guess I would just have to get in the conditioning that computer gamers have in updating their software. In the long run I guess I would even save money as opposed to getting another console? One thing I would like to see is the ability for more PC like mods to appear on the One. How do you feel about the announcement? Good news? Bad News?
