Nintendo Promises to Optimize the eShop on the Switch

Nintendo revealed that they are currently in the process of optimizing the eShop on the Nintendo Switch to make games more easier to discover in the digital store. The announcement was made via a press briefing that occurred at GDC 2018 in San Francisco.

Nintendo’s relations manager, Damon Baker, spoke with Eurogamer and confirmed that Nintendo is aware of the concerns they are getting from players, and that the company is acting based on feedback from fans regarding the eShop.

“I can assure you steps are being taken over the course of the year to improve the functionality concerning discoverability and visibility, to highlight all of that great content.”

Also, Nintendo revealed that digital sales are close to overtaking physical sales in North America, especially with triple-A titles for big publishers.

“We’re setting a very similar course to the likes of EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Take-Two, all those guys are 50-60 of their total revenue is digital.”

Given that Nintendo’s sales are slowly transitioning from physical to digital, optimizing the eShop must be a top priority for the company.

In other Nintendo news, the company has just revealed a few indie-games for their Nindies Showcase 2018. Baker and Kirk Scott both hosted the presentation. You can check out all the games presented here
