Check it out, it looks like Overwatch will be celebrating its first Halloween by having its own version of trick or treat in an event called, Overwatch Halloween Terror. The news comes from Reddit user, ChronosHero, who posted these pictures of a very peculiar item that he found on the XBox Store.
According to ChronosHero the full description on the Loot Boxes reads:
“Celebrate Halloween with some frightening treats for your heroes during a new event : Overwatch Halloween Terror!
Trick out your collection by picking up Halloween Loot Boxes, available for a limmited time*. Every Loot Box contains up to four cosmetic items, including at least one Halloween skin, spray, highlight intro, emote, victory pose, player icon, voice line, or credits that you can use to unlock other items. More than 100 Halloween items are waiting to be unwrapped!
If your Halloween Loot Box contains an item that is already in your collection, you will instead receive coins.
*Halloween Loot Boxes are available to purchase or earn in-game until 11/1/16 at 4pm PT.”
As of this time the Halloween Terror event hasn't been officially confirmed by Blizzard but the XBox Store did confirm to Gamespot that this is in fact a listing from their site. If the Summer Games event serves as a precedent, we can infer that these time-limited Loot Boxes will substitute the standard ones until the end of the event. Likewise, it's very likely that the items contained in these boxes are limited edition and will be forever locked away in the vault once the event is over.
No exact details of the contents of the Halloween Loot Boxes are available yet other than there will be over 100 items in the collection which is a number comparable to the 112 from the Summer Games. Like standard Loot Boxes you can get them either by purchasing or by earning them in-game through leveling. One last thing, if you look at the picture with the candy, the purple one has the logo that has been associated to any clue related to upcoming character, Sombra.
