PARAGON Shutting Down Servers On April 28th

Epic Games has announced that it will no longer be running live servers for it's third person MOBA, PARAGON.  The game, which initially debuted in 2016 was supposed to be a new take on the MOBA genre. Despite it supposedly having 7 Million players in April 2017 it seems as though the expectations for the game, as well as people interest have shifted into Battle Royale Arena style games like Fortnite.

Epic Games has released an apology to it's players, fans, and those who probably expected more from the game.

Hey Everyone,
It’s with heavy hearts we’ve decided to close down Paragon.
We truly appreciate everything you’ve put into Paragon. We received many passionate ideas for where to take the game; the outpouring of thoughtful suggestions is another testament to this incredible community.
After careful consideration, and many difficult internal debates, we feel there isn’t a clear path for us to grow Paragon into a MOBA that retains enough players to be sustainable.
We didn’t execute well enough to deliver on the promise of Paragon. We have failed you -- despite the team’s incredibly hard work -- and we’re sorry.

Along with the apology, Epic Games is offering a full refund to those who want it. To get your refund you simply need to link your Epic account if your on another platform, or if you are on PC you can click this link, and it will take you to the page where Epic Games will deliver the refund, instead of the place you purchased it. As server populations decrease the matchmaking times and the quality of the game will slowly get worse, in other words it will be a slow and painful death for the game that many people enjoyed.

I think it shows a lot of composure from the company itself to deliver the refund. In today's money grabbing video game world it's somewhat refreshing to see developers not only apologizing for a failed product but also trying to make up for it in ways that hurt them, and in this case financially.

What are your thoughts? Are you sad to see PARAGON go? Do you think it was simply released at a time that was dooming it to failure from the get go?
