PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS Has No Plans For Single-Player Campaign

If you're playing PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and hoping that there will soon be a deep story driven campaign attached to the project, you can kill that dream right now. Creator of the series Brendan Greene says the whole prospect is an impossibility at the moment:

"We have no resources. We have no time. We have no plans to add anything like this to the game. No, no single-player is coming to Battlegrounds."

That's kind of a BS excuse, mind you, because PUBG has made enough money in the short time they've been around they can 100% hire a bigger team and make campaign a reality if they wanted to. That said, with as much money as the game is making in its current state combined with its massive player base, there's no reason to add a single-player experience at the moment. While that could one day change, Greene admits, that day isn't coming anytime soon.

For those that don't know, a big inspiration for the idea of PUBG to begin with was the Japanese Novel turned film Battle Royale. The film features a class of Japanese students who are forced to fight to death on an island until only one remains:

Fans of the film who play PUBG will see a few Easter Eggs that are nods to the film. To be quite honest, the story of Battle Royale isn't incredibly deep, so it's not all that surprising that PUBG is the same, but it wouldn't take much to add some small reasoning behind why everyone is on an island trying to kill each other.

Are you ok with the fact PUBG has no story?
