PUBG'S Anti-Cheat Patch Is Delayed After Compatibility Issues
Over the weekend, Bluehole released the anti-cheat patch to eliminate cheating in the game. However, due to several compatibility issues, the developer quickly removed the update. In a statement via the PUBG forums, the developer said:
“Despite its effectiveness in blocking cheats, we have decided to roll back out latest live server update. We will continue to resolve some compatibility issues caused by it. There will be a small patch to download. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Initially, the patch went live last Friday. However, the update caused several issues with players’ games crashing mid-game. In some cases, players weren't even able to launch the game. During the launch of the update, a community coordinator for PUBG said that Bluehole would not remove the patch, because it was effective at blocking cheats. However, it seems that Bluehole was not able to fix the compatibility issues, forcing them to roll back the update.
PUBG has been battling cheaters for what seems like an eternity. The developer has been pushing several anti-cheat solutions, however, all their attempts faced numerous delays due to server issues including this one. Currently, over one million accounts, who were identified to have been using cheats in the game, have been banned from the servers, and 99% of those banned accounts were located in China.
Although Bluehole is hard at work on fixing the update, they were still able to reveal their 2018 road map for PUBG, which included several announcements for new maps and modes coming to the game this year.
