Quantic Dream Is Returning To Multi-platform Game Development
Quantic Dream, the company notable for its interactive movie approach to games and storytelling, has been synonymous with the PlayStation brand since the release of Heavy Rain back on PlayStation 3. Interestingly enough Heavy Rain started life as an Xbox 360/PC game before being shot down by Microsoft for fears of controversy over the themes of the game. Ever since Quantic Dream has developed games exclusively for Sony’s PlayStation consoles with great releases like the recent Detroit Become Human.
But now it looks like those days of exclusivity are behind us and PC/Xbox players might once again be able to experience this unique take on gameplay on their platform of choice. An investment by the Chinese publisher NetEase, the same company working on the mobile Diablo game, has been supplied to Quantic Dream to help fund future projects. Quantic Dream co-Boss Guillaume de Fondaumière had this to say about the future of the studio.
To me, the more platforms a player can play the games they want is a good thing. Plus it can only help a developer see increased sales by tapping into a wider player base. As long as the quality of their games moving forward can achieve the same standards as their previous ones, Quantic Dream should have a bright multi-platform future ahead of itself!
