Quick Review Roundup: SUICIDE SQUAD, GRANBLUE FANTASY, JSAUX DOCK

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League (PS5)
Available: Now

Oh, Suicide Squad, let me count the ways. Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock as of late, I’m sure you’ve seen plenty of opinions surrounding Rocksteady’s latest project delving into the crazy yet fascinating world of the Suicide Squad. Regardless of previously expressed opinions and emotions, I came into this experience with an open mind and as a major fan of Rocksteady’s previous Arkham outings, I wanted to love this game.

Let’s just say the tutorial and intro are tedious and disjointed, much like how I’d summarize the game as a whole. After said tutorial, the game really starts to open up and start to become actually quite good. My hopes were high! The humor starts to flow, the incredible graphics and audio start to shine, which never really lets up to be fair, but the unnecessary live service elements start to creep in and the lackluster gameplay loop of semi-fun 3rd person action fatigue really starts to set in. Let’s face it: This should have been an offline single player SS game with optional local and online co-op as an option. End of story. It truly is a shame so much talent and work went into what could have been another amazing Rocksteady entry in the annals of gaming, instead, we got a disjointed live service mishmash of too many elements to make it really gel. Our ask to devs: Please stop force-feeding live service elements where they don’t fit or belong. Embrace your strengths. Respect your audience’s time.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink (PS5)
Available: Now

This one is very straightforward and easy to recommend. If you like RPGs, you are going to love Granblue Fantasy: Relink! With incredible graphics, beautiful character design and art throughout, plenty of multiplayer options to keep you busy and a stellar battle system, this game just shines.

Even though I believe every modern gaming title with MP options should be crossplay, it’s a minor detail in an otherwise grand adventure. Not too short and not too long, both 2D and 3D elements of this RPG are sure to please existing and new fans like myself. Pick it up!
