Release Date For WayForward's LUNARK Announced
Indie developer Canari Games has teamed up with WayForward to produce their new pixel art Sci-fi cinematic platformer Lunark. Together they have recently announced the release date for the new indie title will be arriving digitally on consoles and PC on March 30th. To accompany the announcement of the release date, Canari Games has also released a new behind-the-scenes video featurette focusing on the game's origins, inspiration, and narrative.
In Lunark, players take on the role of Leo, a courier with unique abilities and a mysterious past, as they navigate through a variety of locations, including a dystopian megalopolis, sweltering crystal caves, and an alien forest. Along the way, they must overcome traps, solve puzzles, and battle enemy droids while unraveling the mysteries of the totalitarian LUNARK regime and its ruling AI, NOAH.
One of the standout features of Lunark is its pixel-art graphics, which come to life through detailed animation and rotoscoped cutscenes. The game's environments will be incredibly detailed, from the crumbling ruins of an ancient civilization to the high-tech megalopolis where NOAH reigns supreme.
The gameplay in Lunark will allow players to run, jump, hang, climb, roll, and shoot their way through the game's levels. As they progress, players will discover hidden upgrades that expand their health and weapon capabilities, all to improve their ability to destroy their enemies.
Lunark isn't just about action and adventure, the game's story is a compelling tale of survival, revolution, and mystery that hopes to keep players engaged from start to finish. And, for those who love a good furry companion, there's even the option to pet a dog or cat!
Lunark will release digitally on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam on March 30th. Physical versions of Lunark will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 at an as-of-yet unannounced date, in both standard and collector's editions.
