Remedy Provides Update on Upcoming Titles Including Control 2 and Max Payne Remakes
Alan Wake 2 launched with glowing reviews from critics and an overwhelmingly positive reaction from fans of the franchise. While it’s been only a few days since its release, Remedy Entertainment has shared an update on its other projects in their Q3 Investors report. This includes updates on codenamed projects, as well as confirmed titles like Control 2, and the Max Payne 1&2 Remakes.
Remedy Updates on Upcoming Projects
Here is where each project currently stands.
Control 2 is still in the “proof-of-concept” stage, but there has been progress in both the design elements, as well as the game build. Remedy has confirmed that Control 2 will continue to be in this stage for the next few quarters, and plans to scale up the team to facilitate development. You shouldn’t expect a gameplay reveal, or trailer anytime soon.
Condor, their cooperative multiplayer title has now entered the production readiness stage, and the developers plan to create a live-service title that they want players to engage with for years. This will start development soon and is likely their next big release, based on the progression detailed.
Codename Vanguard should reach the “proof-of-concept” stage by the end of 2023 as Remedy Entertainment continues to define the next stages with their publisher partner. This is still in a very early stage, even behind Control 2 and we don’t expect much to see from it for at least a few years.
Max Payne 1&2 Remake have also progressed into the production readiness stage. The scope and style of the remakes have been determined by the studio and with Rockstar Games publishing the title, we expect development to start soon.
Despite the incredible critical reception of Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment still expects its revenue to decline in 2023 and are hopeful that these upcoming projects and royalties from existing releases will improve their revenue outlook for 2024 and beyond.
Remedy has also confirmed that Alan Wake Remastered has finally recouped its development cost during the third quarter despite being released back in 2021.
The future of Remedy Entertainment looks as bright as Alan’s flashlight, and we’re confident that with the success of Alan Wake 2, Remedy is on track to regain its glory.
Control is one of the best action titles I’ve played in the past decade, and I really appreciate the transparency Remedy Entertainment has provided with its projects. Seeing New York rendered in such high detail in Alan Wake 2 also gives me hope for the Max Payne Remakes and I can’t wait to see how Remedy will leverage their Northlight technology to recreate that unmatched atmosphere from 2001.
