RESIDENT EVIL 4’s Modernized Mechanics Showcased With New Gameplay
Game Informer has released more information on their exclusive coverage of the Resident Evil 4 remake and this time they are highlighting everything that makes this remake worth playing in 2023. With its launch approaching in a little over 3 weeks, Capcom is unveiling the glorious gaming classic and showcasing all of its bells and whistles. Check out Game Informer’s video above.
While you can get a more in-depth look at the interview on Game Informer’s site, we are just as eager as you are to dissect the 8 minutes of gameplay footage. We can see the RE remake mechanics are returning including free full 360-degree movement and aim while walking. This also means that the enemies' movements have been updated to give Leon a run for his money. We can also see that Ashley’s AI has been updated to react more realistically to intense situations.
Game Director Kazunori Kadoi also mentions that the goal for this remake was not to redefine the genre but to enhance the original title in every way. Making the game scarier, more fluid, and giving the player more options. All of these things were in mind to breathe new life back into a gaming masterpiece. Director Yasuhiro Ampo also mentions that quick-time events have been nearly removed altogether and instead have been replaced with more modernized features. For instance, the knife fight with Krauser is now fully playable in real time.
It was also recently announced that RE4 will receive post-launch DLC in the form of The Mercenaries mode. Although there are no details at his time, it seems Capcom is hiding something big for this expansion, hopefully revealing more info soon.
Resident Evil 4 launches on March 24th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
