Scuf BLACK OPS 6 Envision Pro PC Controller Review: The Best Alternative To First-Party Pro Controllers
Aesthetics and Build Quality
The Envision Pro is a very sturdy controller, that’s sure to stand up to drops and dings as you set it down. But its toughness isn’t the only thing going for it with its sturdy build. The Envision Pro has some great, quality parts within it that make up its build—more specifically its buttons. I think the way that buttons feel and their responsiveness are the most important things I look for in a controller. If it feels wrong, I just can’t use it. And luckily, the Envision Pro does a great job at feeling premium throughout, even with its back paddles.
As far as its looks go, the controller boasts the iconic orange, grey, and black color scheme that Black Ops has been known for, and it feels like a proper homage to the iconic series without going too far, with its wolf design across it. If anything, I’d say that I’m not a huge fan of the dead space in the top mid-section of the Envision Pro. It seems as if something should have been there but was removed. Not my favorite look.
Gameplay
As I said, the buttons and sticks have great feedback. I always felt in control of what I needed to be doing at any given time. The buttons on the backside of the controller sit in just the right position for your fingers to lay across them and push them at any needed instance and aren’t sharp on their ends, which is a complaint I’ve had in the past.
Feedback
I enjoyed my time with the Envision Pro when all was said and done, but it would have been a bit smaller. This controller is large and not always the most comfortable choice because of it. Possibly having a closer control scheme to an Xbox controller could have elevated some discomfort I felt. But it’s not a complete deal-breaker.
Verdict
Scuf’s Envision Pro is a super cool-looking controller that is as premium as it could possibly come. With its razor-thin precision and the software available for us, this controller gives you what you’re paying for. If anything, its size and ergonomics are what hurt it from being my favorite controller right now.
